The Nanyang breakfast club – A ROVING EXHIBITION

Roving Interactive Exhibition

What we did:

A “fan club” celebrating everything we love about this Singaporean icon for Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre

We created a delicious world around Singapore’s iconic breakfast showcasing its timeless flavours, rich history and culture. Visitors could learn about its journey from humble origins to a national icon, about the kaya toast, Nanyang kopi, soft-boiled eggs, and discover why this simple meal has captured the hearts and stomachs of so many.

Breakfast at the kopitiam is a common sight in Singapore. We created a replica surrounding a digital table centrepiece displaying a looping video installation of breakfast being made. A familiar space for many.

The exhibition included fun activities like tongue-in-cheek instructionals for starting your own kopitiam, tips on mastering kopi orders, the secret to perfect kaya toasts and the science behind soft boiled eggs.

The exhibition also made its way across 9 different local locations including schools, public libraries and malls to facilitate intergenerational dialogue and to share the story of the Nanyang Breakfast to a wider audience.
