Our Partners:

Reducing the stigma around youth mental health and seeking help

Along with the good folks at Wyto Global and FARM Singapore, we constructed Grovve, a Third Place dedicated to youth mental wellness at *SCAPE in the heart of Orchard Road.

This initiative by the National Council of Social Service encourages community support and inclusivity, providing a hub where various mental health service providers can collaborate and offer more integrated care. The space is a mix of open, vibrant spaces as well as cosier, intimate settings creating opportunities for a holistic sense of support and comfort for one and all.

The project was developed through WY-TO Singapore’s ‘Well-being for All’ evaluation framework along with biophilic design principles. The materials we proposed reflects the team’s desire to create a comforting and reliable safe space for vulnerable individuals by using warm, naturalistic textures and soothing tones that gently embrace and envelop.

The fired tiles utilised were procured from Loqa Thailand, a certified B-Corp committed to creating tasteful circular tiles and bricks that are environmentally kind. Each tile is made from 85% ceramic and glass waste and fired via low-energy techniques, lowering carbon emissions and water consumption compared to traditional manufacturing methods.

The result is a warm textural design element that not only lends the space a welcoming tone, but is also an expansion of its holistic perspective of wellness.

Furniture pieces were procured from Robries Indonesia, a design studio transforming plastic waste into high-value sustainable materials, designed for long-term use and tangible sustainability impact. Each table and chair is made of at least 3,392 bottle caps collected from local waste banks and sorting networks in Indonesia and is endlessly recyclable, supporting the circular economy.

The brand’s signature colourways add accents of vibrant colour to the centre, an energy reflective of the youths and young adults who visit. This is used in moderation, complementing an otherwise cohesive palette of soothing hues.

Building a space that is kind for
the mind and kind to the planet.
