A Journey Through the Evolution of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Singapore
This bilingual and multisensory experience traces the story of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Singapore, from 19th century medical halls and charitable clinics to its role in daily life today.
Each of its five zones dive into milestones in TCM’s history, the contributions of neighbourhood halls and charitable care, how practitioners raised standards over time, common misconceptions about the practice, quizzes and informational nuggets.
The exhibition title, 'Healing Heritage,' inspired a core motif: the two 'H's intertwine to symbolise the interconnected philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the organised structure of the Bai Zi Gui.
Sensory elements like oral interviews with practitioners, flip panels with home remedies, a digital kiosk with knowledge quizzes, as well as an interactive segment on “What Does Your Tongue Say About You” make the exhibition an immersive one for visitors.
The exhibition is a holistic journey through our Healing Heritage, a celebration of how TCM is intertwined with our everyday lives: vibrant, relevant, adaptive and adaptable.
