Special Thanks

A fresh and playful approach to public seating at Singapore Design Week 2024.

Showcased in the Marina Central Design District as part of the Singapore Design Week 2024, 'Anyhow Seat' invites visitors to interact with public seating in a fun and dynamic way. Rather than being fixed in one place, the Anyhow Seat allows users to pop out individual seats from one ‘socket’ and plug them into another, enabling people to create their own customised social spaces. This flexible design not only promotes interaction but also reflects the fluid nature of urban living.

MADE WITH SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

Beyond its playful concept, the Anyhow Seat champions sustainability through its innovative use of eco-friendly materials. The Merry Men Works has collaborated with regional partners to ensure that each element of the seat has minimal environmental impact.

The seating is made from recycled wood sourced from The Merry Men's own carpentry scraps, 100% recycled plastic by Robries, and eco-friendly bricks and tiles from Loqa, which incorporate over 85% recycled fly ash, glass, and ceramics.

This thoughtful use of materials aligns with the broader themes of sustainability highlighted throughout Singapore Design Week.

In a space where people often pass without a second thought, we hope to create a little island for people to slow down and take a sit, anyway they want to.
